Meet Our Students
In our community, we value uniqueness, innovation, and a profound sense of intellectual curiosity. Additionally, HSLPS has a history of producing students who are content and joyful at the same time.
We asked HSLPS students what they liked most about HSLPS:
Jostin Llenas
"Before I came to the HSLPS, I heard many bad things about the school, like how it was dangerous, how the teachers didn't care for the students, and a lot more, but after coming to Law and graduating from it, I can tell you that those rumors are not true. The school has the most loving teachers and staff I have ever met, and on top of that, this is one of the safest high schools in the district, and I'm proud to say that I was a student at HSLPS"

Jandyell Castillo
“My name is Jandyell Martinez Castillo, and I’m a student in the class of 2026! What I like most about attending HSLPS is the vibe and how well everyone gets along. I’m a part of the school's Mock Trial Team, the Student Government, the Student Cabinet, and the school GSA.”

Larris Gutierrez
"Hi, my name is Larris Gutierrez, and I am currently a senior. These past three years have been very amazing. This is a school where you can count on solving your problem. The staff here is amazing, and the energy they reciprocate is incredible. This is where I can call my home because no matter what I know, they will always accept me for who I was, who I am, and who I will be."

Jasmine Castillo
"Hi, my name is Jasmine and I’m a senior at High School for Law and Public Service. Before coming to this school, I was nervous about what high school would bring into my life. It turns out that I had nothing to be nervous about. This school has amazing teachers and staff who genuinely care about you and your well-being. I have made some amazing memories in this school that I will carry with me forever."

Yomirla Oseguera
What I like most about HSLPS is the family environment that the staff helps create. I feel like it's easy to build genuine connections with the team here and have someone that cares and pushes you to be your best. It's also a school that prioritizes student voices and instills policies that reflect students' wants. I am involved in the Student Government Cabinet, Peer Forward, NJROTC, Mock Trial, National Honors Society, and working with the college and career office. I can confidently say that this school and my experiences here have helped me grow as a person in the best way possible.

Kathy Fernandez
"Hello, I’m Kathy, and I’m a senior at HSLPS. I’m going to be completely honest I was never nervous about attending high school. This school is very family-orientated therefore I feel safe and loved here. You can be who you are free, as I am a no-label who loves women. My school supports me and makes me feel safe in my sexuality. You have many opportunities at sports, I'm on the soccer team and I do tell seasons of the track. I love the school."
