Future-Ready Program (***NEW***)
This year, HSLPS is proud to be recognized as a Career-Ready School, reflecting our commitment to preparing students for success in both college and the workforce through rigorous academic pathways, career-aligned learning, and real-world experiences.
Student Pathways:
- Business & Marketing – Skills in entrepreneurship, management, and strategy
- Law Studies – Knowledge in legal systems, advocacy, and civic engagement
Work-Based Learning Opportunities
As part of our Career-Ready initiative, students engage in internships, apprenticeships, and community-based projects with industry partners. Through programs like SYEP—New York City’s Summer Youth Employment Program—students explore career interests, build workplace competencies, and receive paid experience.
We also connect with initiatives such as Career-Connected Learning (FutureReadyNYC), which fosters early college credit opportunities and apprenticeship programs that blend academics with paid work, sometimes continuing into college.
Peer Forward
HSLPS participates in the Peer Forward program, which trains student leaders to inspire and guide peers through the college and career planning process. Peer Leaders help build a culture of postsecondary readiness throughout the school.
What Is a Peer Leader?
Peer Leaders are central to our mission, inspiring and guiding students of all academic levels toward achieving success in higher education. Trained and supported by Peer Forward, they bring energy and determination to lead their peers.

- Fulfills the NYSED “+1” Pathway graduation requirement, replacing an additional Regents exam or other pathway.

Our Commitment:
We strive to create a supportive, inclusive environment where students feel informed, confident, and ready for life after high school. Grounded in local and state postsecondary readiness expectations and metrics, our programs equip every student with the tools and guidance needed to reach their aspirations in higher education, meaningful careers, and active citizenship.
